Honouring Nancy May Black

91 is pleased to offer scholarships made possible by the generous donation of Nancy May Black (Twinkle).

Applications close for 2027 on Friday, 28 August 2026.

These scholarships aim to:

Address Financial Hardship: Alleviate financial pressures for families and ensure access to a Garin education and/or Boarding Hostel support. (Financial Scholarship applications need to supply a proof of income.)

Recognise Outstanding Potential: Reward existing students for:

  • Catholic Character
  • Academic
  • Sporting
  • Arts
  • Performing Arts

Scholarship information and an application form can be found on our website. We also have hard copies for you to collect from the office.

Note, Scholarship funds are to enable a student to attend 91 and to access curriculum related aspects; monies awarded must be allocated to expenses such as: assistance with transport (bus fees), uniform, Attendance Dues (ADW) fee, school donations, camp donations.

The Year 11 – 13 Senior Parent Teacher Conferences will be held at school on Tuesday 28 April 3.30-5.30pm and Wednesday 29 April, 2.30 – 5.30pm. Conference times are now available for booking through the Kamar portal.

NB. As school will finish early on Wednesday, the timetable will be modified to fit all six periods. Buses will run at their usual times. Students will be supervised in the library if required – please let us know should your child need supervision: attendance@garincollege.nz

Ensure you can access the Kamar portal beforehand; refer to previously emailed instructions. Contact the office should you need support.

How do I access the KAMAR Portal?
Either directly by going to: garin.school.kiwi or from the Garin website by clicking on the word “Portal” (found in Maroon strip near the top of the page).

Information

The length of each conference is five minutes and will enable you to discuss with our teachers the learning, progress and next steps in learning for your son or daughter. At present there’s plenty of availability for bookings – please scroll down on the booking form.

Make sure when making a booking that you allow one interview space (5 minutes) before moving onto the next interview as they occur across several rooms throughout the College. 

If there is a teacher who you would like to see and are unable to on both days, please email them and they can organise an email response for you.

The system will allow only one interview per Garin learner per teacher for each of the days. In order to allow all whānau equal access to book appointments please do not book for the same learner and teacher on both days. Multiple bookings will be removed.

Itinerant Music Tuition 2026 

All students at 91 have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced musician, we have a fantastic team of tutors ready to support your journey.

Want to learn an instrument this year? Sign-ups for Itinerant Music Lessons are now OPEN!

We have tutors available for: Drums, Guitar (Acoustic, Electric, Bass), Piano, Violin, Flute, and Vocals.

How it works:

  • Senior Music Students (NCEA): You have priority for Ministry-funded (free) lessons.
  • Year 9s: You are next in line for funded spots to get you started!
  • Everyone else: We have spots available for private (paid) lessons, or funded spots if space permits.

Start Date: Lessons start from Week 2 (Monday 9th Feb).
