Honouring Nancy May Black

91做厙 is pleased to offer scholarships made possible by the generous donation of Nancy May Black (Twinkle).

Applications close for 2027 on Friday, 28 August 2026.

These scholarships aim to:

Address Financial Hardship:Alleviate financial pressures for families and ensure access to a Garin education and/or Boarding Hostel support. (Financial Scholarship applications need to supply a proof of income.)

Recognise Outstanding Potential: Reward existing students for:

  • Catholic Character
  • Academic
  • Sporting
  • Arts
  • Performing Arts

Scholarship information and an application form can be found on our website. We also have hard copies for you to collect from the office.

Sporting Congratulations /sporting-congratulations-8/ Mon, 25 Aug 2025 21:18:45 +0000 /?p=9191 91做厙 had a hugely successful weekend in sport leading up to Winter Tournament Week. Please take a look at the summary below:

Nelson Netball Centre Finals

Collegiate 4:

91做厙 Tui had a good win against Nelson Girls College 9A to take out the Collegiate 4 title,winning the game 26 – 17. The team is coached by Rachel Taylor and Year 12 student Emma Wallace. Congratulations to our Tui’s on this richly deserved result.

Collegiate 3:

91做厙 Kereru put in a strong performance to beat Nayland College 9A in a tight match, winning 25 – 22 to claim the Collegiate 3 title. The team is coached by Liv Martyn and managed by Jen Fuller. Congratulations team Kereru on achieving this resounding result to wrap up your great season of netball.

 

World Youth Archery Championships

Early on Sunday morning NZT, Year 13 student Hector McNeilly was going head to head with his opponentfrom India to decide who would progress through to the Gold – Silver shoot for the U18 World Youth Compound Archery Title held in Winnipeg, Canada. Hector won the match and showed remarkable composure in the final against his opponent from Germany. As the archers shot their final three arrows the wind got up and Hector’s opponent edged ahead to claim the gold medal.

Our congratulationsto Hector on claiming his first silver medal and the best international result for New Zealand at a World Youth Archery event. This is an incredible achievement for Hector and his family and we are immensely proud of his hard work and determination. Well done Hector!!

We encourage applications for those existing Garin students who are able to demonstrate outstanding potential in academic, sporting, cultural, leadership and faith-based activities.

Scholarships are again available for 2026; closing 29 August 2025. Thanks to the generosity of Nancy Black (Twinkle), we have a number of scholarships available.

Noah also placed second in the U17 boys time trial at the same event. These are superbresults, well done Noah!
